Attend Local Festivals – Live Corfu’s Traditions and Celebrate with Locals
row 1
Corfu is famous for its festivals, and attending one is one of the best ways to live like a local. Whether it’s a religious celebration, a cultural event, or a folk music festival, Corfu’s festivals offer an unparalleled opportunity to dive into the island’s traditions.
Easter in Corfu is one of the most important and celebrated festivals on the island. The Easter period is marked by religious processions, music, and celebrations. One of the island’s most famous traditions is the pot throwing on Holy Saturday, where locals throw clay pots from their balconies, a tradition dating back to Venetian times. The Good Friday procession is another memorable experience, where the streets are filled with locals following the iconic procession of the Epitaphios.
Throughout the summer, live music and folk dance festivals fill the island with joy. You’ll often see Greek dances performed by locals in traditional dress, and if you’re lucky, you may even be invited to join in the festivities. Be sure to ask our concierge about the local festivals taking place during your stay, as these events provide an authentic experience of Corfiot culture.
